Reggae Cruise
Star Party Cruise operates a Reggae Party Boat, which holds 140 passengers and features both an open deck and a closed deck. It is also equipped with a full bar serving beer, wine and premium cocktails, and a dance floor. You can also get nonalcoholic beverages, including juice, coffee, soft drinks and bottled water. Food choices are limited to barbeque items, such as chicken wings, sausage links and chicken burgers, so you may want to eat before you arrive, if this is not your cuisine of choice. Also, food and beverages are not included in the embarkment fee.
Each cruise features a live band, such as local favorite, Base Culture, which plays throughout the trip. Cruises take place each Saturday evening, year-round, and Sunday cruises are available during the summer months. There are also cruises on New Year's Eve, Halloween and Independence Day, even if those dates don't fall on a weekend. All passengers must be 21 years or older to board the Reggae Cruise.
Blues Cruise
Cruises on the MV Star Party Boat are similar to trips on the Reggae Party Boat. The main difference is the music. The Blues Cruise features modern blues music, played by a live band. Drinks are available on this cruise, but food is not. Again, patrons must be 21. Cruises take place on Friday nights.
Christmas Cruise
During the month of December, you can take a family-friendly Star Party Cruise in Long Beach. The holiday-themed cruise gives you an opportunity to view the festive lights set up on boats around the harbor and on homes on Naples Island. The boat's bar serves cocktails, wine, beer, sodas, hot drinks and snacks. This cruise does not feature a live band, but all ages can enjoy the fun.
Private Cruise
Private charters are available for corporate holiday parties, weddings and other events. You're welcome to rent the MV Star for up to 120 passengers. Minimum rental time is three hours, and you can request to have food, drink and entertainment provided.
Birthday Cruise
If you'd like to celebrate a birthday aboard one of the Star Party Cruise ships you can charter a trip. While you're allowed to bring a cake on board the vessel for a fee, you cannot bring a metal knife to cut it with. The ship only allows plastic utensils, which you must bring along yourself.
Planning Your Star Party Cruise in Long Beach
Star Party Cruises requires all patrons to purchase tickets ahead of time. You can buy tickets over the phone by calling 562-799-7000, purchase them in person at the company's office, fax in a ticket request form or purchase them from any TicketMaster outlet.
You can pick up your tickets when you arrive at the boat launch if they have been paid for in advance. If you wish to purchase food or drink on the cruise, you must do so with cash only. Credit cards are not accepted on the vessels, and there are no ATMs on board. In addition, you are not allowed to bring your own refreshments, not even water. Also, expect to have your ID checked if you're taking a 21 and over cruise.
All ships depart from Alamitos Bay Landing, which is located at 140 Marina Drive. To get there, take the 405 Freeway and exit on Seal Beach Blvd. The corporate office is adjacent to the marina.
